Storing Your Tailored Jackets and Pants to Maintain Shape

Jul 7, 2025 | Tips & Tricks

Keep your custom garments looking sharp for years

A well-tailored suit is an investment — whether it’s your first bespoke suit from C Armani Tailors or one of many pieces from a growing wardrobe. But looking sharp isn’t just about the cut and fit. How you store your tailored jackets and pants plays a key role in preserving their shape, structure, and longevity.

Here’s how to protect your tailor-made suit after the fitting is done.

1. Use the Right Hangers

Avoid wire hangers — they’re the fastest way to ruin the shoulder structure of your custom suit jacket. Instead, use broad, contoured wooden hangers that mimic the natural shape of your shoulders. This prevents sagging and helps your bespoke jacket maintain its crisp lines.

For tailored pants, clip them upside down by the hems, or drape them over a felted bar to avoid creasing.

2. Give It Breathing Room

Tightly packed wardrobes are the enemy of a tailored fit. Allow enough space between garments so your suit can hang naturally. This also prevents wrinkles and gives the fabric a chance to breathe, especially after a long day of wear.

3. Store in a Suit Bag (Not Plastic)

Use a breathable garment bag — preferably canvas or cotton. This protects your custom suit from dust while allowing air circulation, which is crucial for natural fibers. Avoid plastic covers, as they trap moisture and can lead to mildew or fabric damage over time.

4. Rotate, Don’t Overwear

Even the best tailor in Singapore can’t stop fabric from wearing out when overused. If you wear suits daily, rotate between different sets to reduce stress on the fabric and lining. It keeps each suit looking newer for longer.

5. Dry Clean Sparingly

Tailor-made suits aren’t meant for frequent dry cleaning — the harsh chemicals can damage delicate fibers. Spot clean when needed, and only dry clean occasionally, preferably at a trusted cleaner experienced with bespoke garments.

6. Refresh with Steaming

Instead of ironing, use a garment steamer to release wrinkles and freshen the fabric. This helps maintain the natural drape and shape of your custom jacket and pants without pressing them flat.

The C Armani Way

Each suit from C Armani Tailors is made to fit your body, posture, and lifestyle — but care doesn’t stop at the fitting. Proper storage is key to keeping your bespoke suits in Singapore looking sharp, structured, and camera-ready.

Take care of your suit, and it’ll take care of your image.
